Bezel set ring making with Sharon Z - a weekend jewelry class

  • 833 Market Street San Francisco (map)

What is a bezel? A bezel is a strip of metal that wraps around a stone and holds it in place. They can be plain or decorative, smooth or rugged, even and perfect, or organic and off-beat. The basic construction and process though, almost always starts the same way - with a special stone that you pick out, and a design that speaks to you.

Sometimes I’ll be at a show and someone will look at a piece. They will marvel at how it even gets made. I have to admit that it seems magical at times, even to me. Bezel settings were one of the most mysterious things in jewelry before I took my first class - how did they do that? In this workshop, we’ll be breaking down and demystifying how to build a bezel setting and set a ring step-by-step. This workshop is open to all students, though we recommend having some comfort and experience with a jewelers torch. Not sure if you have the necessary experience? Contact Sharon in advance to find out!
