Custom Sustainable Jewelry made in San Francisco - Sharon Z Jewelry
Work directly with the artist - Custom Sustainable Jewelry made in San Francisco by Sharon Zimmerman | Sharon Z Jewelry | Shop Handmade Sustainable Jewelry San Francisco
Why go the custom route for your jewelry? I mean, we all want something, anything that is tailored just for us, right? Right. Having that piece that nobody else has, that piece that speaks to you and expresses who you are and what you love, that piece that sparks conversation and evokes a time and a place in your life. Working with me on custom projects means having a piece of jewelry to wear always, that comes with a high dose of awesomeness and rock solid ethics - I pledge to use only ethical metals and ethical stones including Fairmined gold, recycled gold, recycled diamonds, Moissanite, lab-grown stones and mine-to-market gemstones. Ideally, you're coming to me because you already like what I make. In case you aren't already familiar with it, you can scroll through the images above to see what previous customers have been so happy with. You can also take a look at my existing work here and here. Many of my existing pieces can be customized in different metals and widths, or with different stones. Creating New Jewelry With Your Own Stones
I enjoy taking your heirloom stones and reworking them into something new. I consider this to be the ultimate way to craft an environmentally conscious, sentimental, and ethical piece of jewelry. Here is a great example of a before and after engagement ring using a customer's engagement ring that no longer suited her active lifestyle. We transformed it into a ring that was more substantial, more creative and more her.
Are you curious how the process works? To start, your jewelry and stones will need to be evaluated to ensure that they can still be used. In order to do this, your stone will need to be removed from its existing setting and checked for chips, cracks and inclusions. It's not always easy to hear, but be aware that not all stones (even diamonds and sapphires) are appropriate for resetting. If your stone is not going to work for your jewelry idea, I will work with you to find a replacement. If the stone is being pulled from a ring, the metal from the ring may be applied as partial credit towards your order.
